The BC Health Authorities Shared Services Organization (SSO) was formed to find opportunities for cost savings by working together on common services. By getting the most value for every dollar spent, the health authorities will have more resources available to go towards direct patient care.
All supply chain contracts fo
r health authority goods and services are now managed by SSO. A contract management plan identifies opportunities for combining health authority requirements into province-wide contracts. If a health authority is currently purchasing a category of products and/or services covered by these strategic sourcing opportunities, that health authority is required to participate in the process and the contracts.
Some non-core services remain unique to individual health authorities, such as print shops, Accounts Payable and Pharmacy Supply Chain.
The SSO Vice President, Supply Chain is Doug Kent who joined the organization on June 15th, 2009.
SSO Supply Chain is committed to
• Continuing to use fair business practices
• Honouring existing contractual commitments – which may include fairly negotiating any changes to current contracts
• Open and transparent bidding
• Retaining a competitive marketplace.
• The contract decision-making process will follow interprovincial trade laws (AIT, TILMA) and will include postings in BC Bid. Letters of Intent will be used if there is a decision not to go to market.
All vendors should continue to connect with your present Supply Chain/Procurement contacts.
