Organizational Start-up

The BC Health Authority Shared Services Organization (SSO) Board has approved that the SSO undertake recruitment of a President for the organization and a Vice President, Supply Chain. The positions will be posted internally within each health authority and advertised externally. Internal candidates interested in either of these new roles are certainly encouraged to apply. Please see below for brief position descriptions.

President
Reporting to the Chair of the Board, the President provides leadership to take the shared services organization from concept through start-up to generating savings and service level improvements to British Columbia’s health authorities.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leads the organization to gain buy-in to the organization’s mandate from BC’s six health authorities, government agencies and other required stakeholder groups. Maintains close relationships with the BC Ministry of Health Services, provincial agencies, and other stakeholder groups in order to gain support for and successfully implement initiatives.
  • Assembles and manages subject matter expertise and advisors needed to create the organization. Sets up required infrastructure to support the implementation work plan and business plan. Manages the start up implementation work plan and budget.
  • Participates in ensuring legislative needs are in place to facilitate the proper establishment of the organization.
  • Manages shared services contract relationships and participates in individual project governance.

VP, Supply Chain
The VP, Supply Chain has overall executive responsibility for leading the Supply Chain function as an integrated and highly functioning service for the six HAs. This includes procurement, logistics, product standardization and contracts management. The primary responsibility is to plan and execute the supply chain transformation and to generate the projected savings while ensuring supply chain services are delivered to the Health Authorities with service levels at or better than current levels by developing a culture of client service and continual improvement to ensure best value.
