About Us

The BC Health Authority Shared Services Organization (SSO) represents a clear commitment from the health authorities and the Government of BC to more effectively and efficiently integrate the delivery of common non-clinical services. This initiative includes all six BC health authorities.

SSO was formally launched in February 2009, following a year of research and preparation to develop the organization. It was established with the full support of Government, Health Authority Boards and Chief Executive Officers.

Why Shared Services?

The purpose of shared services is to enable the health authorities to be more effective and efficient by integrating common non-clinical services delivery. By making sure that we get the most value for every dollar spent, the health authorities will have more resources available to go to direct patient care.

Additional benefits include:

  • Economies of scale by working collaboratively
  • Increased opportunities for career development and the retention of skilled employees
  • Reduced duplication, with consolidated systems and technology
  • Demonstrated results showing the costs of doing business are transparent and equitable
  • Focus on customer service and performance management
